Home-Based Carer Placement Services

At Care To You, our goal is to make finding a reliable and suitable home-based carer as simple and stress-free as possible. These Terms & Conditions provide general information about how our carer placement service works and what clients can expect when using our services.

By submitting an enquiry, requesting a carer or using our placement services, you acknowledge and accept the general terms outlined below.

1. Our Carer Placement Service

Care To You assists families and individuals in finding suitable home-based carers based on their individual care requirements.

  • Our placements may include:
  • Full-time carers
  • Part-time carers
  • Live-out carers
  • Sleep-in carers
  • Temporary carers
  • Permanent carers
  • Elderly care
  • Personal care assistance
  • Companionship
  • Assistance with daily activities

We carefully consider the information provided by the client when recommending a suitable carer. However, every care situation is different, and the final decision to employ a carer remains with the client.

2. Finding the Right Carer

To help us find a suitable carer, we ask clients to provide as much information as possible about the care recipient and the type of assistance required.

This may include information about:

  • The level of care required
  • Daily routines
  • Mobility and assistance requirements
  • Working hours
  • Live-in or live-out requirements
  • Sleep-in requirements
  • Previous care experience required
  • Special needs or circumstances

Location of the placement

Providing accurate information helps us identify candidates who are better suited to the position.

3. Candidate Introductions

When Care To You provides a client’s details or introduces a carer to a client, this is considered a candidate introduction.

Candidate information may be provided through our website, email, telephone, WhatsApp or other communication channels.

We may provide information such as the carer’s experience, qualifications, references and other relevant details to assist the client in making an informed decision.

4. Candidate Screening

Care To You takes reasonable steps to screen and assess carers before introducing them to clients.

Depending on the position, this may include checking:

  • Identity documentation
  • Previous employment
  • References
  • Relevant qualifications
  • Training and experience
  • First-aid training
  • Driver’s licence, where required
  • Other relevant documentation

Where applicable and legally permitted, additional background checks may also be requested.

While we take care when screening candidates, clients are encouraged to conduct their own interviews and checks before making a final employment decision.

5. Placement Fees

A placement fee applies when a client successfully employs a carer introduced by Care To You.

The applicable placement fee will be discussed with the client before the placement is confirmed.

Placement fees cover the recruitment and placement service provided by Care To You, including sourcing, screening, administration and candidate introductions.

The placement fee does not include the carer’s salary or other employment-related payments unless specifically stated otherwise.

6. Payment

Placement fees are payable according to the payment terms communicated to the client at the time of placement.

Where an invoice is issued, the applicable payment due date will be stated on the invoice.

Care To You reserves the right to suspend further placement services where outstanding amounts remain unpaid.

7. Replacement Service

We understand that finding the right carer is important, and sometimes a placement may not work out.

Where a replacement guarantee applies, Care To You will make reasonable efforts to find a suitable replacement carer within the agreed guarantee period.

Our standard replacement period is 30 days, unless otherwise agreed.

The replacement service is subject to the applicable placement fee having been paid and the original position and care requirements remaining substantially the same.

A replacement means that Care To You will assist in finding another suitable candidate. It does not automatically mean that the original placement fee will be refunded.

8. When a Replacement May Not Apply

A replacement may not be available where the reason for the placement ending is unrelated to the carer’s suitability.

This may include circumstances where:

  • The client no longer requires a carer;
  • The care recipient’s needs have substantially changed;
  • The working hours or duties have changed significantly;
  • The agreed salary or working conditions have changed;
  • The client decides to discontinue the position;
  • The client retrenches or removes the position; or
  • The working environment or employment conditions have materially changed.

Each situation will be considered individually.

9. Direct Employment of Introduced Carers

Care To You invests time and resources into sourcing and introducing carers to clients.

If a carer introduced by Care To You is subsequently employed directly by the client, a family member, household member or another person connected to the client, the applicable placement fee remains payable.

This applies where an introduced carer is employed within 12 months of the original introduction, whether the arrangement is full-time, part-time, temporary, permanent, live-in, live-out or sleep-in.

This helps ensure that the recruitment and placement service provided by Care To You is properly recognised.

10. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing a safe and respectful working environment for their carer.

Clients should:

  • Clearly communicate the carer’s duties;
  • Provide the agreed working hours;
  • Pay the agreed remuneration;
  • Provide reasonable working conditions;
  • Respect the carer’s dignity and privacy;
  • Inform Care To You of any concerns regarding the placement; and
  • Provide accurate information regarding the care recipient’s needs.

Clients should also ensure that the carer’s duties are appropriate to their training and experience.

11. Care Requirements

It is important that Care To You is made aware of any special care requirements before a placement is made.

This may include:

  • Dementia or Alzheimer’s care;
  • Mobility assistance;
  • Wheelchair assistance;
  • Personal hygiene assistance;
  • Medication reminders;
  • Overnight assistance;
  • Disability support;
  • Companionship;
  • Post-hospital care; or
  • Other specialised requirements.

Certain medical or clinical duties may require appropriately qualified healthcare professionals and may fall outside the scope of a home-based carer’s responsibilities.

12. Interviews and Final Selection

Care To You assists with identifying and introducing potential carers. The final decision to employ a carer remains with the client.

Clients are encouraged to interview candidates and discuss:

  • Experience;
  • Duties;
  • Working hours;
  • Salary;
  • Expectations;
  • Availability; and
  • Any other relevant requirements.

The client and carer should ensure that they are comfortable with the proposed arrangement before employment begins.

13. Employment Arrangements

Unless otherwise agreed, Care To You acts as a carer placement service.

The employment relationship between the client and carer is separate from the placement service provided by Care To You.

Clients and carers are responsible for agreeing on the applicable employment conditions, remuneration, working hours, duties, leave and other arrangements.

Clients should ensure that their employment arrangements comply with applicable South African legislation.

14. Privacy and Confidentiality

Care To You respects the privacy of clients, care recipients and carers.

Personal information provided to us may be used for purposes related to providing our placement services, including matching carers with suitable care opportunities and communicating with clients and candidates.

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) where applicable.

Clients and carers are also expected to respect the privacy and confidentiality of information shared during the placement process.

15. Website Information

We make every reasonable effort to ensure that the information published on the Care To You website is accurate and up to date.

However, carer availability, profiles, services and other information may change from time to time.

Website content is provided for general information and should not be regarded as medical, nursing, legal or professional advice.

16. Emergency and Medical Care

Home-based carers provide assistance according to their experience, training and agreed duties.

A home-based carer should not be regarded as a replacement for a doctor, registered nurse, paramedic or other qualified healthcare professional.

In an emergency, appropriate emergency medical assistance should be contacted.

Clients should ensure that carers have access to important emergency contact information and relevant information required to provide care safely.

17. Feedback and Concerns

We value feedback from both clients and carers.

If you experience any concerns regarding a placement, communication or the service provided by Care To You, please contact us so that we can investigate the matter and, where possible, assist in finding a suitable solution.

Serious concerns involving abuse, neglect, theft, assault or other criminal conduct should also be reported to the appropriate authorities.

18. Changes to Our Terms

Care To You may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our services, website or applicable requirements.

The latest version will be published on this website.
